If there’s one thing we know about time it’s that there’s never enough of it–a valuable commodity that you can spend, but there’s a hard and fast no return policy, which is why it must be spent wisely. Another thing we know for sure is that love is risky; is it worth the risk to spend what precious time we have on love? For award-winning singer/songwriter Jordan Whitmore, the answer is a no-brainer.
“I’m no stranger to writing love songs. I’ve written a number of them about my husband, and I often joke that he has quite enough love songs for one guy,” she says of writing her latest single “All My Might,” from her forthcoming EP Good Things out September 6th. “But as the pieces of this one came together, it was clear to me that it was inspired by a different love story – my Dad and late Step-mom’s. We lost her in 2016. I think I wrote this one in 2017. She was incredible. Someone it really shakes a foundation to lose. She and Dad fought hard through a cancer battle, and the song is written like they’re telling each other toward the end that no matter what, their love would keep going.”
Today, Whitmore shares the animated lyric video for “All My Might,” created by Alex Melov, who she says captured the essence of the song and made it come alive. “Time is all we got ’til our time is up…but baby don’t lose heart, our love could never fade, and all of these war scars, all we’ve learned along the way,” she sings. “I’m gonna love you for the rest of my life, I’m gonna love you through space and time. I’m gonna love you with all of my might.” With her sunshine-infused vocals and optimistic determination, Whitmore declares that love transcends the barriers of space and time, that a change in the physical state doesn’t mean that love ends. She shows us that it is a risk worth taking.
