It’s been said that love is all we need—and in Forest Fire Gospel Choir’s whimsical new video “Oh Eleanor,” that statement rings true between two humanoid bug creatures who meet on a bus and dance their way through the streets of Memphis.

Of the video, the band says: “‘Oh Eleanor’ is for daydreamers and hopeless romantics, as our protagonist, who takes the same bus to work every day, plays out an entire relationship in his head with another woman on the bus.” The first line in the song— “Another bus, taking me somewhere I’ve already been”— reminded vocalist Will McGee of an electric lime green, half-convertible bus he used to see growing up in Memphis. The bus is owned by a mysterious Memphis charity organization called the Secret Order Of Boll Weevils, who wear masks to conceal their identities. With the help of the Boll Weevils, the band designed their own masks, brought the video’s main characters Bob and Eleanor to life, and sent them on an adventure through McGee’s hometown.

“Filming in Memphis was an absolute trip. We performed on the bus to a crowd of commuters and took our bug characters around town, getting confused looks everywhere we went. Really though, I wanted this video to showcase my hometown,” McGee explains. “It’s been a goal of mine to show the world how great Memphis is, and I couldn’t have brought this idea to life without my brothers in Forest Fire Gospel Choir, Josh Lockheart, The Secret Order of the Boll Weevils, my parents, the Beale Street Flippers, and the entire city of Memphis.”

“Oh Eleanor” showcases the Nashville-based band’s gritty, Southern rock-infused chops, a foot-stomping, fist-pumping tribute to that butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of love—if the butterflies are wielding guitars plugged into amps cranked to 11.
