Nashville’s very own powerhouse pop singer Brooke Alexx is shattering gender norms with her new single, “Shattering Glass.” It’s the newest female empowerment anthem and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Gender equality seems to be a hot topic these days, especially during the rise of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, and “Shattering Glass” seems to shed even more light on these pressing issues. A videographer by day, Alexx admits she works with countless other females yet very few hold upper management positions.
And so began the creation of “Shattering Glass.” Co-written by songwriter Stefani Bartlett, this piano-driven pop ballad talks about the strength inside of every woman to break down gender barriers. “I can see straight through that ceiling / Break free, I’m making ‘em believe it / Watch it crash, can’t hold me back / Yeah, I’m shattering glass,” belts Alexx.
As if working her musical magic on “Shattering Glass” wasn’t enough, Alexx exceeded our expectations once again with the release of the single’s music video, which she directed and produced herself. Featuring real, local women who work in primarily male-dominated industries, as well as footage from Nashville’s Women’s March 2.0, feelings of empowerment and success, transcend beyond our screens.
With its release, Alexx hopes “Shattering Glass” encourages women to celebrate the accomplishments they experienced despite challenges they have faced. Check it out:
