Tuscan, Arizona-based indie rock outfitRival Shapes will release their new EP, Pull, on May 23rd, a follow-up to their 2016 release, Push. Pull is a collection of the darkest and most heart-wrenching songs from the Rival Shapes thus far, about the seeking, attainment, preservation, and loss of love. The band describes the EP as “a rainy day record. A stay in and make love record. A ‘this got me through high school/college/my breakup record.'” We wholeheartedly agree.
The first single from the EP, “Evaporate,” focuses on romantic entanglements, and its sultry accompanying video is a perfect complement. Featuring a man’s body filmed in extreme close up, a female hand caresses the body, the body becomes drenched in sweat, the body is seemingly tied and trussed with a rope, and then the body becomes free of the ropey snare, evoking the tensions between dominance and submission that occur in any relationship.
Without further ado, East of 8th proudly presents “Evaporate,” the new video from Rival Shapes:
