Though husband-wife duo JOHNNYSWIM is based in Los Angeles, they will always consider Nashville their home turf; the pair brought their signature style of energetic pop n’ roll to the historic Ryman Auditorium recently, and we are still reeling from the greatness of it all.
Touring in support of their intensely vulnerable new album, Georgica Pond, Abner Ramirez and Amanda Sudano-Ramirez make even the largest theater performance feel like an intimate house show. It’s as if the incredibly engaging Ramirezes were put on this planet to sing together, their raw emotion and affection for each other oozes from the verses of every song. With powerful, goosebump-inducing vocals that filled the entire auditorium from the floor planks to the rafters, we were awestruck and unable to form words to sing along; even so, we relished the chance to sit back and absorb every single moment.
