Colorado-based Elephant Revival drew quite a crowd to the Mercy Lounge last week; blending their inspirations of Folk, Americana, and Celtic music, the band presents a resonant and relatable sound. Their rhythmic and intricate musicianship coupled with lyrical storytelling and pleasant melodies created an extremely entertaining experience for all listeners.
The band’s energy was contagious, proven by the sways and nods of all of those in attendance, which is not always an easy feat to accomplish before notoriously tough Nashville crowds. Not only did this five-piece welcome musical guests (Darren Darby and Ben Sollee) to the stage with ease, they also managed to splendidly feature each member’s extensive talents by showcasing their multi-instrumentalist strengths. In between tunes, bandmates exchanged instruments, engaged in candid conversation with the audience, and played one dynamic song after another in their powerful setlist.
