If you find yourself near Nashville on October 31st, you should get your ash to the Monster Bash! (I can’t resist a punny rhyme, y’all know this.)
The Monster Bash will be at Silver Point Studios in Nashville at 7 p.m. on October 31st. Featuring two stages and performances from fifteen artists means that you will have the opportunity to hear music from both Madhouse Management, Silver Point and Palaver Records’ rosters plus more, enter in a costume contest, escape a haunted house, experience a tarot card and astrology sign reading, catch a special Halloween music video from Kelly Ruth and enjoy a refreshing beverage provided by Yazoo Brewing Company.
To add to the excitement, Nashville’s pop indie songstress, Kelly Ruth, along with band members and friends James Karp, Adam Verone (Palaver Records), Jordan Hull, Charlie Whitten, Max Putnam (Cataline Crime) and Jared Colby (Alanna Royale) produced a cover of Bobby Pickett’s beloved, Monster Mash along with a campy music video that celebrates classic horror characters.
Lately, Ruth has been rebranding her band as she has developed into a stronger songwriter with lyrics and charm that call to mind early Jenny Lewis and Sylvan Esso. While churning out new material, playing more live shows and poising herself for the release of an upcoming EP, it’s almost hard to believe she had the time to conjure so many people and resources to fulfill a project that really only gets the right attention once a year.
“In the spirit of the new material I’m writing, I wanted to do something fun with friends and other local musicians I respect,” says Ruth. “Once we heard how good the recording was, we just had to make a music video and I think it does a good job of showing how much fun we have in the studio.”
[The single was co-produced by David “Bru” Brubaker at Marathon Music Village. The music video was produced and shot by videographer Jonathan Stutzman of Philadelphia, PA.]
