Kyle Hollingsworth Steps Into New Territory With Latest Solo Project All We Are

Best known as the keyboardist for genre-bending jam band The String Cheese Incident, Kyle Hollingsworth’s style has always been anchored in showcasing his skills through funky riffs and and improvised jams. Those traits are a hallmark of his prior solo work as well. But with his latest solo release Hollingsworth is turning his focus inward—trading extended solos for introspective lyrics and structured songwriting, all wrapped in an indie-alt-rock aura.

A First Taste: “All We Are” Signals a Bold Shift

Hollingsworth’s upcoming solo album All We Are is due August 1 via SCI Fidelity Records, and the first single—the title track—has already arrived. Shimmering with alt-rock textures and driven by guitar more than keys, the song marks a noticeable shift from the jam-forward style fans may expect. Don’t worry, the keys are still present. They’re just more subtly blended into the track’s rich musical landscape.

Lyrically, the track reflects on transformation and perspective, showing that Hollingsworth isn’t afraid to get personal. “I’m bolder and braver right now than I’ve ever been with my music,” he shares. “It begins with my songwriting, where I’m better able to express what I’m experiencing in the moment, while my willingness to explore continues to grow.” Based on this first track, that’s easy to believe.

Kyle Hollingsworth - All We Are - ALBUM COVER

While we haven’t heard the full record yet, All We Are is being billed as Hollingsworth’s most expansive solo work to date. It draws from a wide range of influences—from bluegrass to funk-fusion to Afrobeat—and includes character-driven storytelling alongside tracks inspired by life on the road and the natural world.

Just as All We Are stretches into new sonic territory, Hollingsworth extended that spirit of experimentation into the world of craft beer, teaming up with St. Louis’s 4 Hands Brewing Company to create a beer that reflects the album’s tone and texture. The collaboration will debut this fall and be available near select tour stops in the Midwest, with a major launch planned for Kyle’s Brew Fest (with album release concert) on September 6 at Wibby Brewing in Longmont, Colorado. Hollingsworth has a track record of melding the worlds of beer and music, so this is an exciting collaboration.

On tour—but no Nashville dates (yet?)

The Kyle Hollingsworth Band is hitting the road in support of All We Are, with dates across Colorado, the Northeast, and the Midwest. While there’s no Nashville show on the calendar just yet, we’re holding out hope that a southern leg might be added—or at the very least, that someone brings the new beer collab to a local bottle share. Tour information is available here.
