Sometimes a band is so new that we don’t know too much about them just yet. That’s just the cases with Queen Anne, a duo comprised of singer/songwriter Katie Silverman and writer/producer Sandy Chila. While some may already be familiar with Silverman’s name from her work acting on such television shows as New Girl, Pen15, and The Exorcists, “Real Enough” serves as the group’s debut single, brining the concept of Queen Ann into our musical world.
Built on a foundation of moody synths and post-modern wit, “Real Enough” walks the line between ‘80s pop-punk nostalgia and dreamy alt-pop edge. At its core is a paradox: how can you be both the attacker and the attacked? Silverman’s lyrics, both cutting and clever, grapple with this question in ways that are as emotionally evocative and loaded with dark humor.
“The paradox that I wanted to explore is that when you’re attacking yourself, you’re necessarily also under attack,” Silverman says. “I wanted to write a song that felt like being on both sides at once.”
Tongue-in-cheek and wildly specific—Silverman quips that the song was inspired by receiving a chicken sandwich with cheese despite ordering without—“Real Enough” sets the tone for a project that’s equal parts introspection and absurdism. Thanks to Silverman’s expressive vocals and Chila’s immersive production, the song pulls you into a world that feels both cinematic and deeply personal.
“Real Enough” is streaming everywhere now, and its release supports Share It Music’s charitable mission—a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Malaria Consortium.
