The 2025 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is set for June 12-15. With over 150 musical acts playing in one weekend, it can be a bit overwhelming. East of 8th is here to help with our new Bonnaroo 2025 artist preview series! Join us as we introduce you to Sammy Virji:
About Sammy Virji:
Sammy Virji is helping drive the global resurgence of UK garage—and doing it on his own terms. The London-based producer and DJ is known for blending combining sharp UKG percussion, deep rhythmic textures, and genre-blurring collabs to create sets that shift gears without losing momentum.
Virji’s signature style is as catchy as it is dynamic. His latest single, “Nostalgia” featuring Issey Cross, blends skippy NUKG drums, sweeping violin strings, and a growling bassline beneath a euphoric, high-energy vocal performance. A genre-blurring collaboration between alt-pop and dance, the track had already gone viral before release thanks to its appearance in Virji’s 2023 DJ Mag HQ set (now topping 2.1M views) and widespread sharing across TikTok, YouTube, and SoundCloud.
Earlier in 2024, Virji dropped “I Guess We’re Not The Same,” a track that opens with a soft vocal refrain and melodic build before dropping into his signature garage rhythm and bass-driven groove. It followed the club-dominating “Damager” (with Interplanetary Criminal), further showcasing his ability to pivot between emotional depth and high-energy impact. His catalog ranges from the bright bounce of “Find My Way Home” to the darker drive of “Shella Verse” featuring Flowdan, and the synth-heavy house hit “Summertime Blues” with Chris Lake and Nathan Nicholson.
