The 2024 edition of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is approaching quickly.ย  Taking place June 13-16 in Manchester, Tennessee, Bonnaroo will feature a ton of amazing music.ย  To help you sort through such a massive lineup, East of 8th is starting a spotlight series featuring a few acts that we know will appeal to our readersโ€™ fine musical tastes.

Letโ€™s kick this series off with the Midwestโ€™s rising pop star, Chappell Roan.ย  Roan has quicklyโ€”perhaps meteoricallyโ€”made a name for herself in both pop music and pop culture.ย  Such success is highlighted by recent live performances at NPRโ€™sย Tiny Desk,ย MTV PUSH,andย The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. She also recently finished a run of tour stops supporting superstar Olivia Rodrigo on her GUTS World Tour.ย

Roanโ€™s expanding influence in the pop music scene started through a series of singles and viral performances. However, last fall we saw the release of Roanโ€™s debut album, The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess. Her musical stylings include dance ready pop on her biggest hit, โ€œRed Wine Supernova,โ€ synth-pop on โ€œPink Pony Club,โ€ and cinematic soundscapes on โ€œCasual.โ€ ย ย While her music draws from a range of influences, her lyrical themes always stay true to her desire to raise awareness about the things that matter most to her: self-expression, human rights, social responsibility, and gender inclusion.

Her catalogue of music continues to grow in 2024 as her latest single, โ€œGood Luck, Babe!โ€ dropped onto all streaming services.ย  The track features Roanโ€™s strong, emotive vocals as she sings about the end of a relationship and the contemplation it brings about exploring authentic love and self-acceptance.ย  About the song, Roan shares, โ€œI needed to write a song about a common situationship within queer relationships โ€” where someone is struggling with coming to terms with themselves. Itโ€™s a song about wishing well to someone who is avoidant of their true feelingsโ€.

Without further ado, we encourage you to take a listen to Roanโ€™s latest track, โ€œGood Luck, Babe!โ€ and to check out her live performance at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 16 in This Tent at the 2024 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival!
