WORD ASSOCIATION with ELEPHANT REVIVAL!

Elephant Revival Week continues! Every day this week, we are posting about our favorite Colorado-based eclectic alt-folk conglomerate to celebrate their upcoming show at Mercy Lounge in Nashville on October 6th, presented by East of 8th!

In a recent chat with Elephant Revival vocalist/percussionist Bonnie Paine, we played a fun little round of word association, check it out:

Colorado—“Water. One of the reasons I moved here was because of all the clean water, I love to swim in wild waters, and it wasn’t too far from my home and family in Oklahoma.”

Mountains—“Ozarks. Those are the very first mountains I ever got to know.”

Nashville—“Todd Snider. I’ve admired him for a long time—he’s an unfiltered, stream-of-consciousness type of performer. He also lives in Nashville now, and seems to really be enjoying it!”

Touring—“Sleep. The most boring answer I could’ve given, I’m sorry! But, it’s a challenge when you’re on the road, trying to figure out how and when you’re going to sleep between performances.”

Music—“Feelings. It’s an expression that goes beyond words, and that’s why I love it. It’s a form of communication that elicits feelings that are unexplainable—you can’t tell people to feel like a spiderweb is being lifted from their hearts, but you can make them feel that way with certain phrases carried by certain melodies.”

Ben Sollee—“Incredible cellist. He’s been a great inspiration, and I love his approach to the way he plays his instrument; he’s a very percussive cellist, and has beautiful sensibilities of playing and writing. He’s awesome.”

Don’t forget, East of 8th is giving away a free pair of tickets to the show, featuring Ben Sollee and a surprise guest, enter to win here: http://wp.me/p3vJ5L-3Yh
