If you know me, then it’s no secret that Jack White is my hero. Needless to say, the announcement of the release of JACK WHITE ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS 1998-2016, the essential Jack White songwriting collection–a 26-track double-LP and double-CD that features alternate versions, mixes, and previously unreleased recordings from The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and solo material, all completely remastered and placed in chronological order for your listening pleasure, caused a bit of excitement around here. The album is out September 9th via Third Man Records/Columbia, the very same day that White will appear on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform solo acoustic on TV for the FIRST TIME EVER!
The man himself has released a new song–a never-before-heard and previously unreleased acoustic mix of the Raconteurs’ “Carolina Drama,” is available now, included as an instant download with all digital pre-orders of the compilation, along with previously unreleased White Stripes ballad “City Lights.” True to form, White and Third Man Records have also announced a special, limited edition colored vinyl version of JACK WHITE ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS 1998-2016!! The 180-gram double LP on blue vinyl with black and white whisps will be available exclusively at Third Man Records’ Nashville and Cass Corridor, Detroit storefronts on the September 9th release day. This colored pressing will be the only limited edition version of the record that is produced.
