THE EAST OF 8TH TOP 15 OF ’15: “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)” – The Dead Weather

Last, but certainly not least, is “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)” by supergroup The Dead Weather.  This song, oh my.  Just give me a minute, I’ll be fine.

Whew! If you know me, you know how I feel about Jack White, and of course, that means I am a fan of his band The Dead Weather, who released their latest effort, Dodge and Burn, in September.  “I Feel Love” unleashes my inner rockstar, and for those three minutes I feel almost as badass as sassy singer Alison Mosshart in her tight leather pants.  I adore everything about this song; its dirty blues vibe, White’s skin-shredding percussive prowess, Dean Fertita’s searing guitar riffs, and Jack Lawrence’s throbbing basslines…Lord, have mercy.  It’s a simple track, structurally speaking, but there are flawlessly-executed subtle details throughout that make this one come alive–for example, in the bridge, as Mosshart wails “Why does my heartbeat feel like a speaker/Feeding back, repeater repeater” Lawrence’s pulsating bass work mimics the sound of a beating heart.   What’s not to love about that?
