“You’re the only one worth seeing/The only place worth being/The only bed worth sleeping’s the one right next to you” sings Saint Motel frontman A/J Jackson in “Cold Cold Man”. Jackson has said in interviews that this song was inspired by the idea that relationships are too saccharin at times, with “I love you’” being tossed around so rampantly that it cheapens its meaning. The narrator admits he can be cold and uncomplimentary, but provides a little reassurance in the chorus (see above).
“Cold Cold Man” is the penultimate party tune; its upbeat disco-y sound and its cinematic style is a clarion call to those in their chairs to get up and dance. Love it.
