Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have had a banner year–after releasing their critically-acclaimed debut album, the band seemed to burn all the candles at all the ends, making late night television appearances, playing festivals, and touring this great country of ours from corner to corner, selling out venues like, well, like it was their job.
The album is one I don’t hesitate to listen to from beginning to end. On repeat. Continually. Every song does a number on my heart; the one I chose for this list is the second tune and my personal favorite, the beautifully swinging “Howling At Nothing,” which reminds me of the music my parents played and danced to as I was growing up. I’m a born and bred North Carolina girl, and we Carolina folks have our own dance called the shag; “We were howling at the moon/We were shaking our hips” belts Rateliff as the band saunters along, making this song a perfect accompaniment for it, inspiring many dances in my kitchen.
Agreed! Such a great album! Hoping to catch this group live soon!
Good luck! It’s been hard to get a ticket around these parts!
There’s a movie called ‘Austin to Boston’ on Netflix that Nathaniel Rateliff makes an appearance in if you’re interested. I highly recommend it!
I’ll check that out! Thanks for the recommendation!
