EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE: “LOCKED UP IN MY MIND” by JOHN FATUM

John Fatum, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and percussionist for Americana band The Rad Trads, is releasing his debut album, Locked Up In My Mind, on December 11th via Dala Records.

Fatum’s debut is filled with songs that speak to love, love loss, and, of course, bank robberies.  His sound, which showcases his raspy voice and folky delivery, has been described as the musical love child of Bob Dylan and the Lumineers.  I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Grammy-nominated artist Sarah Jarosz said of the album, “This record takes the listener on a joyful and soulful journey, and John’s adept songwriting ability shines throughout. It’s a rare occurrence when a debut record can sound so genuinely rooted in folk styles of the past while still being uniquely original. If this record is any indication, I, for one, can’t wait to hear where his musical journey leads him next.”  SWOON.

Fatum has created a video for the album’s title track, “Locked Up In My Mind”, directed by Kelly Teacher (Glass Animals, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats).  It features the singer with his band playing live in a Harlem apartment, giving the viewer a front row seat to the magic.
