Meet True Loves, the Seattle instrumental funk and soul band bringing their horn-driven sound to Suwannee Hulaween 2026 in Live Oak, Florida.

Seattle’s True Loves have spent more than a decade making instrumental funk and soul music that doesn’t need a singer to command attention. What began as a 2014 jam session between drummer David McGraw, bassist Bryant Moore, and guitarist Jimmy James has grown into a seven-piece outfit with a formidable horn section and a reputation for energetic live performances.

The band’s 2025 single, “Dopus No. 1,” offers a good introduction. James opens with a jagged guitar riff before the horns arrive, bringing elements of Afrobeat and classic soul into the mix. Keyboardist Nigel Hall joins the band on Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes, adding another layer to a track that takes several turns over its four-minute runtime.

Released in January 2025, “Dopus No. 1” followed “Good Weed and Red Wine,” with both songs appearing on a Valentine’s Day seven-inch single. The recordings offer a taste of what True Loves will bring to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park when they perform at Hulaween on Sunday, October 25.

Now in its 13th year, Suwannee Hulaween returns to Live Oak, Florida, October 22–25, with four days of music spanning electronic, funk, jam, rock, and beyond. The festival also features Spirit Lake, an immersive area filled with art installations, interactive experiences, and performances.
