Moody Joodyโs set at The Basement East was a crossroads of throwback influences. Glossy textures and layered vocals sparked flashes of familiarity, yet the blend landed squarely in a modern pop space shaped by retro touches.
Opening with โTalk Me Down,โ the trio kicked off the night with an anthemic feel. They drew the room in close through sheer energy, and that momentum carried through the rest of the set.

Songs like โLost in a Midnightโ and โVelvet Connectionโ leaned into atmosphere, with vocals leading the way. Newer material including โOOPS!โ and โLorettaโs Last Callโ reinforced that direction, pairing brighter moments with the retro touches that defined the set. Through it all, the bandโs shimmer-pop sensibility kept the performance connected.
The trio noted this was their first show since October, catching them early as new material takes shape. Movement was constant, sometimes planned and other times spontaneous, giving the set a restless energy. It helped keep attention on the performance and reinforced the bandโs atmospheric approach. With more new material on the way, it will be interesting to see how that develops. The set closed with a new, unreleased song previewing their upcoming album. It felt like a natural close, tying the set together while offering a glimpse of the band’s sonic direction.

The performance took place as part of a TONS showcase hosted by The Other Nashville Society, which focuses on elevating Nashvilleโs non-country music scene through curated events. If you missed Moody Joody at the showcase, the trio will return to Nashville soon, opening for The Maine at Marathon Music Works.
