Girls Write Nashville will hold its 5th Annual Benefit Concert on Sunday, March 29 at 3rd & Lindsley, with a headline performance by Ashe. The event is presented by Amazon as part of Lightning 100โ€™s Sunday Night series and will also be broadcast live on Lightning 100.

Now in its fifth year, the annual concert serves as a fundraiser supporting the organizationโ€™s free songwriting and music production programs for Nashville youth. First launched in 2021, the event has grown into a recurring fundraiser focused on sustaining creative opportunities and mentorship for young people across the city.

Student Writers Round Opens the Evening

The evening will open with a writers round featuring graduating senior artists Thalia Dills, Koley Berry, Anya, and Nevaeh, along with graduating senior student co-host Shakiah. The performance highlights students who have participated in the organizationโ€™s songwriting programs and reflects Girls Write Nashvilleโ€™s emphasis on youth leadership and creative development.

Proceeds from the concert support the organizationโ€™s free songwriting and music production programming for Nashville youth.

Headlining Performance by Ashe

Singer-songwriter Ashe will headline the benefit concert. The Nashville-based artist gained widespread attention with the platinum-certified single โ€œMoral of the Story,โ€ which appeared on the soundtrack for To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. Her catalog blends pop songwriting with confessional lyricism, and she has released multiple albums and collaborative projects while touring internationally.

Ashe has also collaborated with artists across pop and electronic music, including the track โ€œTill Forever Falls Apartโ€ with Finneas. Her appearance at the Girls Write Nashville benefit brings an established voice in contemporary pop to an event focused on supporting young songwriters and creative community in Nashville.

About Girls Write Nashville

Founded in 2016 by Jen Starsinic and Georgia English, Girls Write Nashville began as a one-time community arts project funded by a small micro-grant. After the initial group of participants asked to return the following year, the program expanded into a nonprofit organization and now serves more than 300 students annually through songwriting mentorship and music education programs.

The organization partners primarily with Metro Nashville Public Schools, working with Title I schools to provide trauma-informed songwriting and music production programming for female-identifying and gender-expansive youth. Programs include in-school Writers Guild circles, after-school programming through NAZA partnerships, and a citywide mentorship program pairing high school students with professional musicians.

Participation in Girls Write Nashville programs is offered free of charge, with an emphasis on accessibility and inclusive participation.

Executive Artistic Director and Co-Founder Jen Starsinic describes the organizationโ€™s work as part of a broader effort to support young people navigating ongoing instability:

“We, as a society, are not in acute crisis – we are in chronic crisis,โ€ says Starsinic. โ€œWe canโ€™t only fund emergency response. Weโ€™re all in this for the long haul, and that means building restorative systems for the long haul, too. That means investing in restorative systems that support the psychosocial well-being of young people growing up in this moment. Weโ€™re showing up for LGBTQ+ students, immigrant students, English language learners, and young people navigating mental health challenges or social isolation. We are tasked with raising healthy, effective future leaders even while everything feels unstable – and perhaps especially because it does. Creative community isnโ€™t a luxury. Itโ€™s vital infrastructure for human wellbeing.”
