Dasha’s meteoric rise to stardom has been nothing short of remarkable, and it’s no surprise that by 2025, she’s officially cemented herself as one of country music’s brightest new stars. We first discovered her in spring 2024 with the release of the official music video for “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’).” By then, the song had already gone viral, making it hard to believe we hadn’t heard it sooner. By the time CMA Fest 2024 rolled around, Dasha was already commanding large day stage appearances, accompanied by a way-too-brief set at Nissan Stadium.

Although country music isn’t always the main focus of East of 8th, Dasha’s catchy hooks, dynamic energy, and undeniable connection with her audience instantly made her an artist to keep on our radar.

Fast forward to CMA Fest 2025, and Dasha has officially become a star. Her highly anticipated sophomore album is on the way, and with it comes “Oh, Anna,” a standout track that offers a much deeper glimpse into the artist’s personal evolution. It’s a reflection on fame, identity, and rediscovery—a testament to her growth both as a person and as an artist. More than just a country song, ‘Oh, Anna’ transcends genres, speaking to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted, soul searching song.

Driven Towards Fame

Born Anna Dasha in Central California, Dasha’s path to stardom was shaped by unwavering determination. From a young age, she had a fire for music, and by 13, she had already secured her first record offer. However, it wasn’t until her early twenties that things truly started to take off. After years of writing songs for love-struck strangers online and self-funding her debut country album, Dasha’s breakthrough came with “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” in 2023. The song took over TikTok and honky tonks nationwide, becoming an anthem for new country fans and earning her a major label deal with Warner Records. Seriously, seemingly everyone knows the viral dance.

“Oh, Anna,” An Exploration of Introspection

Yet even with all this success, Dasha remains grounded. In “Oh, Anna,” she offers a rare moment of vulnerability, reflecting on the pressure of fame and asking herself whether she’s lost touch with the fearless, self-assured little girl she once was. The song, co-written with Hillary Lindsey, Emily Weisband, and Chris LaCorte, begins with gentle acoustic guitar strums and builds with slide guitar and Dasha’s heartfelt vocals. The chorus is an emotional confession: “I feel more like a scared little kid than I ever did back then. I need you to come back a little, come back a little, make me that girl again, oh Anna!” It’s an anthem of self-reflection, capturing the feeling of trying to reconnect with the person you once were amidst all the noise of success.

As she prepares to release her sophomore album, Dasha’s journey has only just begun. It’s clear that she’s here to stay, not just for her catchy tunes and high-energy performances, but for her unapologetic authenticity and ability to connect with her fans on a deeply personal level. “Oh, Anna” proves she’s more than just a country star—she’s an artist who is unafraid to explore her complexities, embrace her vulnerabilities, and stay connected to her roots.
