What started as a regional event has grown into what’s advertised as the largest national touring festival. With stops in twelve cities for 2025, including Atlanta, Tampa, and Kansas City, Breakaway brings EDM music to fans, often in regions with smaller EDM markets. This year marks Breakaway’s first foray into Alabama, as the festival prepares to take over Huntsville’s Orion Amphitheater and Apollo Park on October 3–4, 2025.
Breakaway Alabama is open to ages 18+ and offers two days of performances from some of the biggest names in dance music, along with a strong mix of rising talent and regional favorites. With minimal overlapping sets and a compact city-center venue, Breakaway aims to deliver a big-stage experience without the sprawl of larger festivals.

Our Experience with Breakaway Music Festival
Last year we got our first Breakaway experience when the festival stopped in Nashville. Our take: it’s a fest that’s all about the music. They always pull together top talent and bring it to both small and large markets. Because it’s a travelling festival, it may not have some of the “extras” as far as elaborate customization of the venue or dedicated festival infrastructure, but that doesn’t take away from the euphoria of hearing your favorite artists with your fellow EDM fans. For it being such a huge touring festival, there’s something distinctly “indie” in its feel. We had so much fun at Breakaway in Nashville last year, that we immediately made plans to attend Breakaway Alabama when it was announced.
The Breakaway Alabama Lineup
From superstar DJs to rising regional acts, Breakaway Alabama’s lineup covers a wide swath of the EDM landscape. The festival features a curated mix of crowd favorites, boundary-pushers, and artists on the cusp of their breakout moment. It’s an intentionally balanced bill that offers something for longtime dance music fans and casual festivalgoers alike.
The Breakaway Alabama Headliners:
Kaskade
A mainstay of progressive and deep house, Kaskade brings an emotional, often euphoric edge to his sets. With a career that spans decades, he’s earned a loyal following through thoughtful production and timeless tracks that work just as well on headphones as they do on a massive stage.
SLANDER
Slander’s signature blend of melodic bass and cinematic build-ups has made the duo a crowd favorite on the festival circuit. Expect explosive drops, emotional highs, and a polished live show that balances heavy energy with surprising nuance.
DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal)
Yes, that Shaq. DJ Diesel has carved out a niche in the dubstep world with heavy-hitting sets and an unmistakable presence behind the decks. His performances are less about finesse and more about sheer fun, volume, and controlled chaos—which might be exactly what you’re looking for to end the night. His 2023 Bonnaroo sets was one of the most talked about of the weekend. Take it from us…it’s simply a good time.
The Chainsmokers
Known for massive pop crossover hits and high-energy performances, The Chainsmokers bring a festival-ready blend of synth-pop, EDM, and future bass. Their live shows lean on big visuals, crowd singalongs, and a sense of arena-scale spectacle—perfect for Breakaway’s open-air setting.
The Undercard
Breakaway Alabama’s undercard brings a healthy mix of established names, party-starters, and fast-rising talent. Bass fans will find plenty to love with Mersiv, Kompany, and Level Up in the mix. House heads can look forward to sets from Snakehips, Matroda, Dr. Fresch, and Ship Wrek, while pop-leaning acts like Twinsick and Mary Droppinz keep things upbeat and accessible.
And for our hometown Nashville readers—be sure to catch Mollywater, a rising local DJ who’s rightfully getting national attention. Most recently, following the Bonnaroo cancellation, she supported huge names such as Levity and Crankdat during a Nashville pop-up show at The Office. We can’t wait for her to represent Music City when Breakaway visits to Huntsville!
