The 2025 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is set for June 12-15. With over 150 musical acts playing in one weekend, it can be a bit overwhelming. East of 8th is here to help with our new Bonnaroo 2025 artist preview series. Join us as we introduce you to Canada’s Goldie Boutilier!
About Goldie Boutilier
Goldie Boutilier grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, but her sound feels like it was forged in the heat of an old Hollywood backlot and tempered by Nashville neon. A singer, songwriter, and self-styled alt-country torchbearer, she blends smoky Americana with a cinematic flair thatโs equal parts retro glam and modern grit.
Her influences are clearโfrom Tammy Wynette to Nancy Sinatraโbut Goldieโs story is entirely her own. By age 5, she was already staging performances using her familyโs junkyard as rehearsal space, and at 21, she signed a major label deal with Interscope. Years of experimentation followedโdifferent cities, different aliases, and a few hard lessonsโbut ultimately, it was a return to her Cape Breton roots that shaped the artist we hear today.
Now releasing music under her own name, Goldie has crafted a signature sound built on heartbreak ballads, slow-burning anthems, and razor-sharp storytelling. Her EPs The Cowboy Gangster Politician (2022) and Emerald Year (2023) offer a panoramic view of her evolution, from rural daydreams to LA disillusionment and back again.
Her 2024 single โThe Actressโ marked a turning point. A standout for its emotional transparency, the track pulls back the curtain on her time in the spotlightโexploring themes of image, power, and identity with raw vulnerability.
Since then, Goldie has continued to release new music, including โKing of Possibilitiesโ and her most recent single, โNeon Nuptialsโโ the latter a shimmering ode to impulsive romantics.
Goldie Boutilier comes to the Bonnaroo Farm on Sunday June 15 at 1:15 PM. We can’t wait to hear “The Actress” in person!
