Welcome to East of 8th’s roundup of new music added to our Spotify playlist! It’s been a while since we rotated our playlist so there’s a few less songs on it than normal. However, the songs are just as enjoyable.

We hope you like our curated selection of the latest indie rock, alternative, and indie pop tracks. (And make sure to connect with the artists on social media!)

THE STONE FOXES — “TIME IS A KILLER”

Blues rock inspired influences including the Black Keys, Jack White, and Black Pistol Fire abound in this new track from San Francisco’s The Stone Foxes. “The lyrical theme came from the idea of mother nature being a character – a stone cold killer – which she is. Mother nature doesn’t play games,” The Stone Foxes co-founder Shannon Koehler shares. The song is full of sticky-fuzz electric guitar riffs and infectious lyrical hooks.

TROPICAL GOTHCLUB, a new creative project from multi-instrumentalist Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age and The Dead Weather), brings us “Double Blind,” a song that blends indie rock and dream pop influences. “‘Double Blind’ revolves around the idea of learning to understand the things we go through without a preconceived notion about how they will make you feel,” Fertita says about the new track.

Somewhere between indie pop and indie rock is where you’ll find the Scottish duo, Poster Paints. Singer Carla J. Easton’s vocals will instantly draw comparison to fellow countrywoman Lauren Mayberry. However, don’t expect huge electronic drops with this band’s style of pop music. Instead, electric guitar and isolated drums make for a dreamy soundscape. About the track, Easton shares: “This has quickly become a favourite to perform live and we are so pleased to release it! A sort of sleepy Mazzy Star sound to it. Driving big chorus with blistering guitar amidst whispered reflective laments.”

EMMA MAE STONE — “PORCH SONG”

“Porch Song” isn’t ‘the latest song’ from McLean, Virginia’s Emma Mae Stone–it’s her first single. Acoustic guitar leads the gentle melody, giving the song strong modern singer/songwriter indie pop vibes in the vein of Katelyn Tarver or Okay Alright. “I wrote this entire song on my porch, surrounded by nature. To me, this song is about the intrinsic music and beauty found in nature that constantly surrounds us,” Stone shares.
