Memphis soul/blues force of nature Southern Avenue leans into their funk sensibilities with “Move Into The Light,” from their forthcoming LP Be The Love You Want. With its hot horns, tight harmonies, and wall of rhythm, this slice of sonic magic is irresistible. Signature Southern Avenue.

THE SLANG – “NOTHING LASTS FOREVER”

Alt-rock duo The Slang is set to release their debut LP Divide on September 24th. Co-founder John Bobo says their new single and video “Nothing Lasts Forever,” “is about addictions in our lives that we seem to never conquer. Addiction comes in all shapes and sizes so we wanted a video that interpreted it as an unhealthy relationship.” The video is more like a mini-film, and is the perfectly-suited backdrop for the track’s soaring guitar riffs and power-vocals, blending pop rock sounds of the 80s with all that is new and good. Grab some popcorn and put this video on repeat.

THE HIGH LOVES – “CALL ME BACK”

The High Loves have us dancing and singing into our hairbrushes with their bouncy new bop “Call Me Back.” The Toronto alt-rock outfit says the song has been around for minute but was perfected during lockdown. Lead guitarist and vocalist Noah Monckton said “Call Me Back was one of the “catchiest songs” he’s ever written. “When I first wrote the hook, I wasn’t able to get it out of my head for weeks,” he adds. “For better, or for worse.” For better indeed.

NEW WOLVES – “DRAW ANOTHER CIRCLE”

Three-piece Welsh indietronica band New Wolves was forged where the Welsh mountains rise and the old industries fail, a dichotomy that can be heard in their dreamy vocals-meets-modern synth stylings. Written in the middle of the pandemic, “Draw Another Circle” captures the feeling of observing your city’s abandoned streets while dreaming of a better future ahead.

WELCOME CENTER – “PARSITE CITY”

We’re getting serious Postal Service vibes from Philadelphia/Dallas-based electro-pop duo Welcome Center, who recently released single “Paradise City.” Described as a song that “challenges you to fight the urge to give in to all-consuming anxiety about the place you live,” the song’s video features an audition that turns deadly, and IT’S giving us serious Exorcist feels. You’ve been warned!
