NEON DREAMS MADE US A PLAYLIST!

To belong is to be accepted as one is, not merely “fitting in” for being like everyone else, and humans are hardwired with the need to feel as if they belong. Vocalist Frank Kadillac of JUNO Award-winning Canadian alt-pop outfit Neon Dreams was inspired to create the band’s latest single, “Sick Of Feeling Useless,” after a conversation with good friend and collaborator Nathaniel Motte from the band 3OH3! about how easy it is to feel helpless, like nothing anyone does really matters. “It hit so hard with me cause I felt that way my whole life growing up I felt useless until I broke out of my shell,” he explains. “If my fans are different versions of me this is the biggest thing that connects us on this island of misfit toys. People that feel like they don’t matter in this world and are constantly searching for a place to belong, a place that makes them feel like a kid again. I have stories to tell from a place of love to other people who are like me,” he continues. “My main goal has been to reach as many people as I can and spread a positive message. I feel like I need to get out the message to people who are like me because I don’t know anybody else who’s doing it.”

Neon Dreams is the vessel for that message. Kadillac and drummer Adrian Morris have been making music together under that moniker since 2013, but it wasn’t until last year that Kadillac realized his true purpose. After a life-changing experience at a meditation retreat, Kadillac, who had written from a place of sadness for so long, felt moved to invoke positivity with his music and reinvent the band’s sound.

“We’ve been on this late 90’s and early 2000’s nostalgia trip for the past year, and without realizing, we had thrown ourselves into a genre called alt-pop,” Kadillac says. “This came from putting our pop-rock/pop-punk roots into our new records. If you haven’t heard of alt-pop until now, here’s a good introduction to where we think it came from and where it is now. I hope it takes you on the same journey that we experienced.”
