ALBUM REVIEW: “CLASSIC” by FREEDOM FRY

French-American couple Bruce Driscoll and Marie Seyrat, otherwise known as Freedom Fry, is an indie-pop duo founded in Los Angeles in 2011 whose authentic but versatile sound has truly changed the game. Their songs, which range from playful blends of instruments and upbeat tunes to vocals with raspy depth and soulful harmonies, tend to illustrate the world from the perspective of a starry-eyed dreamer or a heart filled with hope. While achieving all of this and portraying life from a romantic perspective, they have managed to maintain a consistent sound over the years and continue to tell creative and beloved stories to which many people can relate.

Freedom Fry’s new album Classic is no exception. From pre-release crowd-pleaser, “Awake,” to this writer’s personal favorite “Wild Child,” Classic offers a large array of new songs that evoke a sense of freedom and inspires leading a life of no regrets. The album is the perfect compilation of road trip tunes… and while this applies to much of Freedom Fry’s music, this album is unique—though the sound is varietal, it’s familiar, warm, and well…classic (it’s very well-titled).

Longtime fans and newer listeners alike have lots to look forward to in this new release, and it’s exciting to see how Freedom Fry has developed over time. Their artistry is fascinating.
